First Form | Action

[Crane's steps are long and drawn out as he slowly makes his way through Game Central Station. He glances around, his eyes taking in all the sites and people around him.

While his game had been plugged in for a while, Crane didn't often venture too far from it. He wasn't one much for crowds, and after the arcade closes he preferred spending the evening quietly resting.

But while he loved the adventure/tournament-fighting game that was his home, there were times when he needed just a little getaway to take a break from it.

So if you happen to see Crane wandering around, maybe drop by to say hello. He wouldn't mind a bit of conversation.]

Oh uh- ...nowhere in particular! Just you know...exploring, scoping out the other games and...stuff.

[Crane smiles and nods.] Ah, I see. One of those days to just take a look around?

One of them. ...More like the only day...actually...

[Sorta.]

I just don't leave my game much so...all this is pretty new for me.

Heh, yeah...it can be pretty overwhelming if you're not used to it.

[Not that Crane has much room to talk; he's not really used to it either.]

Well...maybe looking around might be less intimidating with some company?

[He's asking just as much as he's offering.]

[Hiccup smiles a little, nodding at Crane before running his fingers through his hair.]

Maybe. I wouldn't mind a little...company myself, to be honest.

[Besides, GCS is pretty big.]

[Crane returns the grateful smile, before glancing around, stretching his neck a bit to get a better look. It's hard to see much past the crowd of characters, though.]

I wonder why it's always so crowded...

[He always feels a bit nervous around a large group of people, especially if he was unfamiliar with them. Despite how slender he was, it was difficult for him to maneuver around a lot of people, and he always had to worry about his slender legs around crowds.

He was also concerned for his companion's sake. Just from their brief running into each other, he already suspected that the prosthetic leg was less than ideal for the station's linoleum floor.]

I guess because the characters who've been working longer than we have are ready to relax after a long day's work...?

[It would make sense, anyway. While he personally was perfectly fine staying right where he was in his own game, a lot of characters cherished this time during after hours to get a break- and for some, it was to get a drink instead.]

I suppose. [A small grin.] Although coming here after a long day isn't exactly what I'd call relaxing...

My thoughts exactly.

[Hiccup walks alongside Crane carefully. Very carefully- the floor still isn't being kind to his prosthetic, so he's taking extra care not to step too quickly, lest he trip. Again.]

I guess, in some games, you can't really find a chance to relax otherwise- so they come here for some rest instead.

[Crane walks slowly, his long legs letting him take his time between steps. It puts him in a good position to catch Hiccup just in case.]

Possibly...I admit, I don't know many of the other games around here. There have been a lot of games that come and go, it's hard to keep track of them all...

[The viking nods in agreement, folding his arms over his chest.]

Heck, you're lucky if you stay around for more than a few months nowadays...graphics keep getting better and better every year.

I know. I've been lucky that my game's been around for a while, but you always have to worry about how long that lasts. Especially for movie-based games, and we have to worry about sequels...

...Oh man, yours is movie based too?

[Yep, sequels were definitely a thing.]

Well, let's hope by the time ours have sequels, if they do, we won't be replaced.

[Crane smiles a little. It was a nice thought, but he knew that as the franchise changes with the movies, so did the games to match. So the chances of their games getting replaced with one up-to-date with recent films was much higher than they'd hoped.

Still, he decides against saying so, and instead looks around as other game characters rush here and there.]

Well...if our games do end up getting replaced...at least we'd have good company.

[There were already characters from unplugged games around the station. And while most were sad to be homeless, they all at least had each other.]

[Crane had a good point. As many characters as there were that were homeless around here, they still had each other. Most of the time they even got taken into other games, and had a chance to live on within them. Sure it was nothing like being in your own game, but it's far better than being homeless.

The viking can't say for sure what he'd do himself if his own game were unplugged, considering how long it took him to venture out into GCS in the first place. Ah well, what did those folks over at Bad Anon say?
Take life one game at a time.

Surely that applied to the good guys too, right?]

You're right. I don't suppose it would be too bad...as long as I've been in this arcade, I haven't met anyone who wasn't willing to help out someone who needed it.

[Perhaps that's because he hasn't met many people at all.]

Well, some characters are nicer than others...but for the most part, people are generally here for each other. Especially if some characters end up homeless.

[At least from Crane's limited experience...]

Speaking of nice characters... what are the others in your game like, Crane?

[He's genuinely curious, really. His game has a pretty diverse roster of characters, and even more dragons.]

[Crane laughs a little.] Well, they're all pretty nice for the most part. Some of them are pretty intense, though. As little as I leave the game, I have friends who are worse about it.

Intense huh?

[That makes him think of Astrid. Yep, he knows how that is.]

Yeah, some of my friends are pretty eccentric too. ...I couldn't live without them though.

[Crane chuckles and nods.] Yeah, I know what you mean. Life definitely wouldn't be the same without them.

[Here Hiccup has to pause, side-stepping quickly to get out of the way of a sudden crowd leaving Tapper's- only to be replaced by a dozen more people.]

Gee...I wonder what everyone likes about that game so much?

Well, Tappers has the best root beer...at least that's what I've heard.

But mostly people just like grabbing a drink and hanging out with friends from different games.

Makes sense.

[He keeps forgetting how so many characters like to kick back and relax in the Station instead of inside their own games, half the time.]

Well if they say it's the best...why don't you and I go see if what they say is true?

[A grin.] Sounds like a good idea to me.

[The viking smiles, and then gestures to the game port once everyone's mostly cleared out.]

Well then, shall we?

[As unlikely as it was, Hiccup's finding Crane to be a good friend so far, making his trip to the station today worthwhile.]
