insertcoins | Cy-Bug Invasion: START!

[Sometime after this ridiculousness happened, Miku took her Cy-Bug egg home to her game and hid it in her bedroom. But it didn't stay hidden for long. Soon, it hatched...]

[Miku thinks the bitty bug is cute, so she decided to keep it as a pet! And pets like to go on walks. So she took her to the Po Pi Po stage to play around. Once there, she put the little bug on the ground]

Okay, Dottie! Let's run around and play!

[The little bug tweets in confusion]

Oh, I forgot! Dottie's you, that's what I decided to call you. Now go have fun, okay?!

[And Miku hops into the little wooden train to ride it around in circles, because it seemed like a good idea at the time. Meanwhile, Dottie twitters again, and then goes bounding off into the enormous vegetable patch. When she's had her fill of the train, Miku gets off to collect Dottie. She blinks, finding the bug in an unexpected place.]

... Huh? I thought there was an orange there before.

[Oh well! She shrugs and picks up the bug again, heading off to a new location. She's decided she wants to show Luka her new buddy, so she's checking out the stages she frequents. After a quick trip to space, she steps out onto a floating pink stage, looking around as she sets the bug down.]

Hmm. Guess Luka didn't come here yet.

-Oh?

[A Tako-Luka has come bouncing around the corner to see the visitors! Jumping up and down with her tentacles, she approaches Dottie curiously.

The Cy-Bug immediately starts eating her face. Miku gasps and rushes over, wielding a leek]

No, Dottie, no!

[Dottie totally just ate the Tako-Luka. It seems she was just the sustenance she needed to grow bigger and stronger! Miku gapes at the transformation, but nevertheless smacks it with a leek for discipline.]

Bad Dottie! You spit Takoluka out right now!

[Following commands, the bigger Cy-Bug sprays ink in Miku's face and flies away into the stars. Miku wipes it out of her eyes, and then shakes her fists (and her leek) at the sky]

DOTTIEEEEEEE!!!

[Screaming her lungs out, she stands there panting for a moment, and then she flies off in pursuit of the Cy-Bug. But it disappeared out of sight while she was blinded, and eventually she had to go home to her house, defeated.

When she opens the door, her jaw drops. Her room is full of eggs. And as soon as she steps inside, they all start hatching. She screams and shuts the door again. Sweat runs down her face.]

I have to do something!

[She looks behind her at the door as they start ramming into it. Meanwhile, she hears glass break on the other side... that'd be her window.]

Kyaaaaaaah!

[All right, that does it, she's running for the exit.]

[Game Central Station]

[Miku bursts through to the outside. Seeing a few groups of people heading over for karaoke, she holds her arms out to block them.]

I-I'm very sorry, but nobody come in here! It's dangerous... This is really bad!

[she looks over her shoulder as if there could be an alien swarm busting through the gate any minute. Also, there's still some ink on her face and neck. Maybe someone should ask her what's going on.]

[Tonight had been one of Ralph's nights off, as a Space Marine, he didn't have a lot of free time, even after the arcade closed. Constant patrols were always needed, in order to make sure the Cy-Bugs didn't escape.

He's nearby when he hears Miku telling some people that something dangerous is going on in her game, and he hustles over.]

Hey, what's going on? Are you okay?

I'm fine, [Miku says as she self-consciously tries scrubbing some more ink off of her neck...] I'm fine, but! I really screwed up...

[She can't help but whine a bit at that. How is she supposed to explain this to him? She starts flailing her leek around absently. Well, better to start from the top.]

Um, the boss from your game... I played with her a little. I didn't think this would happen.

[Ralph's eyes widen in shock and he steps closer to her and puts his giant hands on her shoulders. He's clearly worried about Miku now.]

You met the Queen? She didn't hurt you, did she? And what do you mean by play? The only game her and her spawn know is war.

War ... b-but, I thought that was just part of your Game! The Queen didn't hurt me at all. I somehow ended up there, and she wanted to play, so I taught her a song from my world.

... But then, she wanted me to hide an egg. Because I had it, none of the other bugs attacked me, so I thought it would be fine. But then it hatched into Dottie, and she ate Luka's friend! I tried looking for her but I couldn't find her, just more eggs.

[she gives him a guilty look]

That's all she wanted, huh?

[Ralph looks more and more horrified the more Miku tells her story, at one point he's gripping her shoulders too tightly, but he loosens his hold after a few moments.

He sighs.]

The Cy-Bugs aren't like the other characters in the arcade, but we'll discuss that later, what we need to do is get this mess stopped before the arcade opens.

Do you know how many eggs there are? [He glances towards the gate.] They're probably multiplying now...just one can build an army in a matter of hours.

[She rubs her shoulders a bit when he lets go. Ow.]

I think I saw five or six of them in my bedroom... it's pretty small. But I lost track of Dottie hours ago, so if what you're saying is right, it's probably more than that.

[His worry is spreading to her, now.]

We don't have any weapons, how are we supposed to fight an army of them?

[Ralph shakes his head.]

I wish you had told somebody sooner, but, there's nothing we can do to change it.

[He unholsters a pistol from his side and holds it out to Miku.]

Do you know how to shoot a gun? It's not strong, it'll take several shots to destroy a Cy-Bug, but it's got unlimited ammo.

At that point I was just trying to find her... ah.

[She takes the gun uncertainly]

I don't....

[She pauses, and steps back. A holographic circle of light descends as she changes her module to the more badass-looking VN02 Miku.]

Now I do. I'll do my best. Thanks.

[she holds the weapon up]

Should I lead the way? I don't know where Dottie is, but I can show you where the eggs I found were.

[This is surprising, to say the least. Ales was expecting a relaxing dance after a busy day..]

Miku? What's the hubbub? I thought your game didn't have anything dangerous in it!

Well, it usually doesn't! This came from another game... I'm really sorry!

[Ralph nods.]

[He pulls out his much-larger gun and activates it, making it hum to life.

Her transformation is a little unusual, but nothing terribly out of the ordinary for video game characters.]

Sounds like an idea to me, you know the game better than I do.

Also, I'll try to keep it away from you, but watch out for my gun's blast radius. It shoots something kind of like a grenade, I don't know if it'll hurt you, but it's better to not risk it.

[Why would someone from another game cause trouble in a totally different game?! And why at Project Diva, of all places?]

This is really eriousay! Should we go get help?

Yes! I think I'm going to need all the help I can get!

Ok! I'll go get some help!

[He starts to take off in the direction of his game- but suddenly screeches to a halt a few feet away.]

[Rayman and his stupid friends are either scattered all over the arcade, or fast asleep. Even though they're great at the hero-business during work hours, he highly doubts how helpful they'd be now.. Besides, he's watched them all die at least 5 times today.]

Uh..

...Exactly how bad is it in there?

[Shinta was gonna chill with Miku, man! But he stops when he hears her, and suddenly stands up straight.]
Miku-san? Did something happen?
[...It's not music-hating aliens, is it?]

Got it. I'll do my best to stay out of the crossfire...

[She nods and starts heading back into the game. Within the entrance the pseudo-city is the first scenery they encounter. She waves]

This way!

[and starts heading toward the Vocaloid's homes. She's hurrying as much as she can, her mind racing as she tries to guess how many bugs there might be. Dottie was in space when Miku lost track of her, so she can only hope that she wasted a lot of time out there before she found the way back to start laying eggs in the room. If not, they could be in big trouble.]

It's... Heroes' Duty bad.

[She hopes giving the exact problem would clarify it in the least amount of words]

[Miku really looks distraught. She was probably looking forward to chilling]

We're under attack by aliens!

[although whether or not they hate music is debatable considering their queen.]

Bubble me..

[That game had only been plugged in for a short while, but he'd still heard rumors of how brutal it was.]

I'll.. I'll get someone! Just hang on a second!

[After running off into his own game, he comes back moments later.. riding on the back of a strange, over-sized mosquiito. There's an "extra life" heart floating behind them (along with an extra he's keeping in his hat, just in case.)]

Let's fight bugs with bugs! Moskito doesn't look like much- [zzzt!] -but he's a great shot. We'll try to get as many as we can.. but if things go bad, we're out of there.

[Ralph nods back and follows Miku through the game. He doesn't take in the sights, but rather, glances around for any sign of Cy-Bugs, checking for any markings they could have made and looks at his in-helmet radar every now and then to see if it's picked any up.]

So far, everything's pretty clear. Maybe you've gotten lucky and they haven't spread too much.
